Moses Speaks to the Lord Face to Face as one who speaks to a friend.

Exodus 33:12-18 (NLT): “One day Moses said to the Lord, ‘You have been telling me, “Take these people up to the Promised Land.” But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, “I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.” If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people. The Lord replied, ‘I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.’ 15 Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.17 “The Lord replied to Moses, ‘I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.’ Moses responded, “Then show me your glorious presence.”

Exodus 33:18 (NIV): “Then Moses said, ‘Now show me your glory.’”

There are some things you can and cannot say when you are having conversational dialogue’s with certain folk! You Have To “KNOW WHO YOU’RE TALKING TOO” !!! Family, Friends, Wives, Women, Your Mom, Other Moms. When You Approach The Lord, Your Attitude Will Determine Your Altitude!

When you meet with the Lord, it’s not to give commands but to receive them.

“You Said, Take These People Up To The Promised Land But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me.” Exodus 33:12 (NLT).  It was a Gift from the Lord, Genesis 12:7 (NASB 1995): “ The Lord appeared to Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I will give this land.’ So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.’” It was a Destination of The Lord, Exodus 6:8 (NASB 1995): “’And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’”  It was a Command of the Lord, Exodus 33:1 (NIV): “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, “I will give it to your descendants.’”

Moses was stalling and looking for an excuse (Past Pattern). God said to Moses, “Come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” (Ex. 3:10).  But Moses doesn’t want all this responsibility so he comes up with one excuse after the next:

I’m not able, don’t have the talent: “But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’” Exodus 3:11 (NKJV).

They won’t believe me: “Then Moses answered and said, ‘But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, “The Lord has not appeared to you.’”  Exodus 4:1 (NKJV).

I’m not a good speaker: “But Moses pleaded with the Lord, ‘O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.’”  Exodus 4:10 (NLT).

Someone else can do it. But Moses again pleaded, ‘Lord, please! Send anyone else.’”  Exodus 4:13 (NLT).

At this point we’re told in the text, “Then the anger of the Lord burned against Moses, and He said, ‘Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.’” Exodus 4:14 (NASB 1995).

“You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” Exodus 33:12-13. This was a great request and great prayer for all to pray. “Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.” Psalm 86:11 (NLT).

“Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”  Psalm 25:4-5 (NKJV).

His Presence Goes Before and Goes with the Upright. “The Lord replied, ‘I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.’” Exodus 33:14 (NLT).

His Presence Is With Us and Will Set Us Apart, Exodus 33:16 (NLT): “For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.” Exodus 8:23 (NLT): “I will make a clear distinction between my people and your people…”

He Gives Favor and Knows Us By Name, Exodus 33:17 (NLT): “The Lord replied to Moses, “I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.”

Isaiah 43:1 (NLT): But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, ‘Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.’”
