We Must Grow Deeper

Luke 5:1-3 (NLT): One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee,[a] great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.”

There Were Two Empty Boats At The Water’s Edge. Not Everyone Is Living An Abundant Life—We Must Notice The Empty Vessels. Some People Are Just Empty, Lost, No Hope, meandering about life. The Fishermen Had Left Them and Were Washing Their Nets. Luke 19:10 (NASB1995): “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Look How The Lord Rebukes The Shepherds of Israel—Lost Passion For The People. Ezekiel 34:4 (NASB1995): “Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, the diseased you have not healed, the broken you have not bound up, the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you sought for the lost; but with force and with severity you have dominated them.” Ezekiel 34:16 (NASB1995): “I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick; but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with judgment.”

Look, Just Because They’re Wealthy Doesn’t Mean They’re Healthy. Simon Owned The Boat—This is Significant because it show that he had a successful business. Even the successful can end up empty.

Push Out Into The Water—We have to get into the waters for evangelism.

Luke 5:4-7 (NLT): “When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,’Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.’

‘Master,’ Simon replied, ‘we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.’ And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.”

We Have To Go Out Where It Is Deeper And Let Down Our Nets. The Big Catch Is Not In The Church But Out Where It Is Deeper. We Have To Get Rid Of All Our Excuses. We Do This At The Word Of The Lord —-> Simon Said, “if you say so.” Jeremiah 20:9 (NIV): “…his Word is like a fire shut up in my bones…”

In Closing, Luke 5:8-11 (NLT): “When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, ‘Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.’ For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed. Jesus replied to Simon, ‘Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!’ And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.”
