The Anointing of God
1 Samuel 16:13 (NLT): “So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David from that day on.”
This world needs anointed believers full of the Holy Ghost. The Anointing Is for Preparing, Protecting and Propelling — David was anointed in chapter 16 for a giant in chapter 17. Acts 10:38 (NLT) shows how “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NKJV): “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV): “And you shall receive Power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you… And You Shall Be My Witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
1 John 2:20 (NKJV): “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.”
THE ANOINTING IS AN EMPOWERMENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, Acts 1:8 (ESV): “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My Witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
THE ANOINTING IS A GUARANTEE, A SEAL OF APPROVAL, 2 Corinthians 1:12 (ESV): “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
THE ANOINTING IS AN ENLIGHTENING, 1 John 2:27 (ESV): “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.”
THE ANOINTING IS FOR PROCLAIMING, Luke 4:18-19 (ESV): “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Preach the Gospel — Set the Captives Free — Open The Eyes of the Blind,
Deliver the Oppressed — Release the Favor of the Lord
POWERFUL RESULTS OF THE ANOINTING
THE ANOINTING Will Reveal The Plan of God, John 16:13 (NKJV): “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own authority; but whatever he hears He will speak; and he will tell you things to come.”
He guides and provides. God Led His People with His Presence, Exodus 40:36-38 (NASB1995): “Throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out; 37 but if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up. For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.”
God Met With His People, Exodus 25:22 (NASB1995): “There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.”
THE ANOINTING Will Bring Increase. “The Ark of the Lord remained there in Obed-edom’s house for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and his entire household.” 2 Samuel 6:11 (NLT).
THE ANOINTING Will Eliminate Barriers. “The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth,” Psalm97:5 (NLT).
THE ANOINTING Will Continually Fill You With Joy. “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.” Psalm 16:11
THE ANOINTING Will Deal With Your Enemies. “My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.” Psalm 9:3 (NIV)
THE ANOINTING Will Always Restore And Refresh You. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19 (NIV) THE ANOINTING of God Will Use You. Acts 10:44: “While Peter was speaking the Word, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the Word.”
