Trusting in the Lord

Proverbs 3:5-8 (NKJV): Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”

Websters –>  firm belief in the reliability, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Hebrew  —-> (bät) To have confidence in someone or something.

THE HEART OFTEN NEEDS SURGERY, Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NLT): The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?  But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

THE HEART IS WHERE YOUR EXPERIENCES ARE STORED and IS THE SEAT OF UNDERSTANDING–The Good, Bad and Ugly. All of your promises, all of your pain, all of your passions and all of your desires are stored within your heart. All of the information and all of your experiences are weighed and evaluated within the heart. Proverbs 22:17-19 (NJKV): “Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your heart to my knowledge; For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips, So that your trust may be in the LORD; I have instructed you today, even you.” Psalm 119:11 (KJV): “Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I might sin against thee.”

Luke 6:45 (RSV): “…for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Yoda): “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

TRUST ISN’T SOMETHING THAT IS EARNED BUT IS OFTEN DESTROYED. Trust can be built over time but can be destroyed overnight. Trust is something that can be handed out and also taken back.

8 Benefits of Trusting In The Lord

Trust in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37:3-5 (NKJV): “Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”

Trusting in the Lord brings greater levels of happiness and joy in life. Proverbs 16:20 (NKJV): “He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” (Joyful)

Perfect Peace when we stay focused on the Lord. Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV): “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”

Fruitful At All Times, not anxious in a time of drought or famine. Jeremiah 17:5-8  (NKJV): “Thus says the LORD: ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in man  And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD.  6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.  Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.  8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.’”

Those who trust in the Lord will be delivered from wicked schemes and plans of evil people. Psalm 37:39-40 (NKJV): “But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.”

Mercy from the Lord surrounds all those who trust in Him. Psalm 32:10-11 (NKJV): “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!”

Those who trust in the Lord will be prospered. Proverbs 28:25-26 (): “He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.”

Those who trust in the Lord will be safe and secure. Proverbs 29:25 (NKJV): “The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”

In Closing, Proverbs 3:5-8 (NKJV): Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”
