Nothing’s Too Hard For God
Genesis 18:1-15 (NLT): “The LORD appeared again to Abraham near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest part of the day. He looked up and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground.
“’My lord,’ he said, ‘if it pleases you, stop here for a while. Rest in the shade of this tree while water is brought to wash your feet. And since you’ve honored your servant with this visit, let me prepare some food to refresh you before you continue on your journey.’”
“’All right,’ they said. ‘Do as you have said.’”
“So Abraham ran back to the tent and said to Sarah, ‘Hurry! Get three large measures of your best flour, knead it into dough, and bake some bread.’ Then Abraham ran out to the herd and chose a tender calf and gave it to his servant, who quickly prepared it. When the food was ready, Abraham took some yogurt and milk and the roasted meat, and he served it to the men. As they ate, Abraham waited on them in the shade of the trees.
“’Where is Sarah, your wife?’ the visitors asked. ‘She’s inside the tent,’ Abraham replied.
“Then one of them said, ‘I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!’
“Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent. Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said,
Nothing’s Too Hard For God, p 2
“’How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?’
“Then the LORD said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, “Can an old woman like me have a baby?” ‘Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.’ Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh.” But the LORD said, “No, you did laugh.’”
The Lord Appeared To Abraham Again and Again. Abraham’s Had Previous Encounters That Built A Relationship Where He Was Able To Identify The Lord’s Presence:
He Came To Him First In A Voice in Gen 12 – Yahweh
He Reveals Himself as God Most High in Gen 14 – El’ Elyon
He Appears To Him In A Vision in Gen 15
He Declares Himself As The All Sufficient One in Gen 17 – El’ Shaddai
Then The Lord Appeared To Him Again In Gen 18.
Abraham Had Many Encounters With The Lord. The Lord Had Made An Unconditional Covenant With Abraham. Gen 12:2-3 (NLT): “I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
Gen 15: The Lord Promised Abraham a Son
Gen 17: The Lord Went From “God Most High” To “The All Sufficient One”
Changed Their Names: Abram to Abraham
He Promised Them Land, Lineage, Kings
He Even Prophesied Them A Son – The Only Problem was they were old – 90 and 100
Jeremiah 1:11-12 (NIV): “The word of the LORD came to me: ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ ‘I see the branch of an almond tree,’ I replied. The LORD said to me, ‘You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.’” If God Said it, It shall Come To Pass
3 Lessons Every Mother Should Know
GOD KNOWS OUR HEARTS. You Don’t Have To Say Anything; Because Sees Everything!
Sarah Laughed Silently To Herself??? God knows what’s in our hearts! He often has to do a work “In Us” before He does a work “Through Us.” God not only knows our hearts but “He See’s” Us.
GOD SEES OUR HANG-UPS. Transparency Is Vital To Intimacy. Sarah Was Afraid, So She Denied It Saying, “I Didn’t Laugh.” Sometimes there are things going inside of us that can cause problems on the outside of us. We must be careful because sometimes our fears and inconsistencies can cause us to do things against our faith. Sarah lied because she never dealt with the pain that was on the inside.
Disobedience starts internally before it’s seen externally. “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” Luke 6:45 (NLT). Sarah had unbelief deep within her heart – She had pain that became a problem. Don’t let pain become a problem; Let your pain become your progress. Sarah offered her servant to Abraham because she couldn’t conceive. So Sarah became impatient and embittered, she Took It To and Out on Haggar.
GOD ALWAYS DELIVERS ON HIS PROMISES. If He Said It, He Will Do It. Look at all the Promises God made to Abraham and Sarah He Fulfilled. Nothing Is Too Hard For God.
What can God do for You?
What has God said to You?
What Does God Need to Do in Your Life?
Is Anything too Hard for God?
3 Things A Mother’s Faith Can Do!!!!!
A MOTHER’S FAITH CAN BRING HEAVEN TO EARTH. What Was Mary’s Response To What The Angel Said To Her About Getting Pregnant by the Holy Spirit? Luke 1:38 (NLT): “Mary responded, ‘I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.’ And then the angel left her.”
A MOTHER’S FAITH CAN PRODUCE A GODLY LEGACY. Eunice and Lois Raised Timothy in the Faith.
A MOTHER’S FAITH CAN CHANGE CIRCUMSTANCES IN LIFE. Did you know that if it had not been for a Mother, we may not have electric lights today? When Thomas Edison was a young boy, his teacher sent him home with a note that said, “Your child is dumb; we can’t do anything for him.” Mrs. Edison wrote back, “You do not understand my boy. I will teach him myself.” She did—and the results were world-changing!
