It Belongs To Us

Deuteronomy 29:29 (NKJV): “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

Revelation: The process by which God gives to man truths that he would not otherwise know.

Websters Definition: the divine or supernatural disclosure to humans of something relating to human existence or the world. 

There Are Two Types of Revelation According To Scripture

General Revelation: This type of revelation is available to all of humanity and gives a general understanding of God’s existence, character & power.

Creation: The beauty, order, and complexity of the natural world points to a creator God.

Psalm 19:1-2 (NKJV): “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.”

Conscience: Humanity has an innate sense of right and wrong, suggesting a moral lawgiver.

Human Reason: Our capacity for rational thought and understanding can lead to recognition of a divine being.

Special Revelation: This is a more specific and direct form of communication from God, focusing on revealing his will and plan for salvation. It includes:

Scripture: This is a form of special revelation, containing God’s inspired word to man. 

Prophets: God spoke through prophets to deliver specific messages to individuals and nations.

Hebrews 1:1-2 (NKJV): “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.”

Jesus Christ: Jesus is the ultimate form of special revelation, embodying God’s nature, character and power with the father’s plan for humanity.

Miracles: Supernatural events that demonstrate God’s power and intervention in the world. 

Dreams and Visions: Direct communication from God through dreams or visions.

God Constantly and Consistently Reveals Himself to All of Humanity, “He Who Has Ears Let Him Hear!”  Matthew 13:9 (NKJV).

God Revealed Himself Mightily To Abraham as EL Shaddai —-> Covenant Belongs To Us.

Genesis 17:1-2 (NKJV): “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, ‘I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.’”

Four Major Things God Revealed To Abraham

Offspring —> Land —> Blessing —-> Generational Blessing

God Revealed Himself to Hagar Concerning Her Son Ishmael —> Redemption Belongs To Us

Genesis 21:17-18 (NKJV): “And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, ‘What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.’”

Jesus Revealed Himself to the Disciples In The Middle of a Storm —> Deliverance Belongs To Us.

Matthew 8:26-27 (NKJV): “But He said to them, ‘Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?’ Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, ‘Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?’”

Jesus Revealed Himself to Peter at Caesarea Philippi —–> Salvation Belongs To Us.

Matthew 16:16-17 (NKJV): “Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.’

Jesus is Asking You Today —> Who Do You Say I Am?
