Proverbs 22:28: “Do not move the ancient boundary Stones Which your fathers have set.”

We live in a world today that unfortunately likes to move ancient biblical boundaries. “All roads lead to heaven; it’s as if we are married; No one will know, everybody is doing it!!!”

Look at the war we are having right now in our country regarding “boundaries” to Secure The Border. Boundaries Are Important, Boundaries Need To Be Determined, Boundaries Say Something:

This is my space and that is your space

This Is What I’m Responsible For / You

It’s where I end and you begin

Boundary: A Dividing Line: A border that separates one area from another. 

Some Key Facts:

It Says Where We can Go and Where We can’t Go.

It Says Who’s in Control and Who’s Not.

It Says What We are Responsible For and Not

The Lord establishes boundaries for his people and it is within these boundaries that the Lord releases his blessing. Supernatural Blessings Flow Within the Context of Supernatural Boundaries.

This is beautifully illustrated in the creation story. There is order to everything the Lord does. Because he is a god of order. “He is the God of Order.” In Him There is No Chaos. 

There Were Boundaries Before The Blessing.

We see in Genesis 2 that on the seventh day the Lord rested from creation. Then he caused a great mist to spring up from the earth and watered the earth. From the dust he created man and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils. We are the first thing God touched with his hands, a supernatural connection. 

Then The Lord Placed Him in the Garden and gave him dominion.

Territory Was Established. Boundaries Were Given. 

Authority Was Established. Rules Were Given. 

Dominion Was Established. Boundaries and Rules Were Honored and Followed.

Then he saw that it was not good for man to be alone so he created a helper. Then a Helpmate – Woman – The Blessing for Adam – The Blessing came after the boundaries.

All of Their Territory, Authority and Dominion Gone, Why? Because The Boundaries and Rules were Broken. 

Boundaries Create Order  – No Boundaries No Order – No Blessing. Boundaries are the barriers that keep unwanted chaos from entering. Boundaries protect you and the contents of your context. 

Any area that you occupy that hasn’t been given to you, you’re just squatting! The blessing from God isn’t upon that which is taken but that which is given. Deuteronomy 28:8 (NLT): “The Lord Will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your store houses with Grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.”

Boundaries and Rules Create Context. Where I Go and Where I Don’t Go.

Boundaries and Rules Shape Character. They Help Define Who I Am and Who I Am Not. The fool tries to adjust the truth so he does not have to adjust to it. Test The Relationship – Just Say “No.”

Boundaries and Rules Bring Clarity. They Set The Parameters – Rule – Measuring Stick – Eliminate Confusion.

Boundaries and Rules Establish Control. Where and When I have Dominion, Where I Don’t.

Real Leadership is not taken, it is given. People give leadership to those that they trust. They allow people that they trust to have influence over their lives. 

In Closing, Most People Don’t Set Boundaries For Themselves Either. 

Google on Boundaries: Boundaries are limits and rules we set for ourselves in relationships, defining what behaviors we’re comfortable with and what we’re not.
