The Mountain of God

Genesis 22:1-5 (NLT): “Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. ‘Abraham!’ God called. ‘Yes,’ he replied. ‘Here I am.’ ‘Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.’ The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son, Isaac. Then he chopped wood for a fire for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had told him about. On the third day of their journey, Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. ‘Stay here with the donkey,’ Abraham told the serv We will worship there, and then we will come right back.’”

The Call of God Requires Sacrifice

“Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah.

Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”

Sacrifice = to give up something of value as an offering  to help someone or something else

Matthew 22:14 (NLT): “For many are called, but few are chosen.”  Why?

The Call of God Requires Separation

“Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. ‘Stay here with the donkey,’ Abraham told the servants.” There are some things and some people that you’re going to have to let go!

Ephesians 5:11 (NLT): “Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.”

The Call of God Requires Worship

“Abraham told the servants. ‘The boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there, and then we will come right back.’” Worship isn’t you singing in church —> It’s you obeying God.

Romans 8:14 (NLT): “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.”

To Close:

Only The Children of God Can Climb the Mountain of God

Psalm 24:3-6 (NLT): “ Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the LORD’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.”

There is Blessing and Favor on that Mountain
