A Prescription for Joy

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, a time for family, for friends, for fun, to celebrate, or reflect. It’s a time for worship, for the word, for giving and even receiving.

At a time when there should be good news of great joy, for many It seems as if they missed the memo, the text and the email. They are upset, angry, alone, lost, dazed and confused. Someone told me: “I don’t feel God like I used to,”– that really stuck with me. For all those who are feeling distant, discouraged, downcast or disconnected, this Message is for you; you should share it with someone who needs it as well.

John 14:18-20 (ESV): “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” Psalm 16:11 (ESV): “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

James 4:8 (ESV): “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

Make Room for God Everyday, Closeness grows where consistency lives.

Psalm 5:3 (ESV): “O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”

Here Is a Great Pattern For Prayer:

Thank Him for three things. Praise for who he is, Read one chapter of Scripture, Proverbs to start.

Sit quietly for one minute and say, “Speak, Lord. I’m listening.” Over time, this creates an atmosphere where His voice becomes familiar.

Invite God Into Every thing—Not Just the “Spiritual”

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV): Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

When you are driving: “Lord, lead me today.” Before for your next meeting: “Give me Your wisdom.”

When you are feeling stressed out: “Jesus, be my peace right now.”

The more you acknowledge Him, the more real He becomes.

Worship Until Your Spirit Breaks Through

Psalm 22:3 (ESV): “Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.”

God inhabits the praises of his people. Worship isn’t just singing—it’s surrender.

Get Into the Word Until the Word Gets Into You

Psalm 119:105 (ESV, NASB 1995): “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

The Bible is not information—it’s revelation.

Walk With People Who Are Walking With God

Proverbs 27:17 (ESV): “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” You will rise to the level of your circle. Being around spiritually hungry people stirs spiritual hunger in you.

Surrender Is What’s Been Holding You Back

Distance from God is often tied to something unsubmitted—fear, sin, worry, past wounds.
