We Are Going Somewhere

1 Peter 1:3-16 (NLT): “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad.[a] There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 9 The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. 11 They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward. They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.
A Call to Holy Living
13 “So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, ‘You must be holy because I am holy.'[b]”

5 Things Peter Exhorted Believers Concerning Their Salvation
PREPARE YOUR MINDS FOR ACTION, Romans 12:2 (NLT): “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Colossians 3:2 (NLT): “Think about the things of heaven, not earthly things.” Think on This: “If the enemy can’t defeat you, he’ll distract and detour you.”
He will keep you so busy, you’ll miss the flight.
EXERCISE SELF-CONTROL, Galatians 5:22–23 (NKJV): “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” “A fruit of the Spirit is… Self-Control.” Proverbs 25:28 (NLT): “A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.” If you don’t control your flesh, your flesh will control your future. Self-control is not willpower, it’s Spiritual Domination. Salvation requires discipline not just a declaration.
LIVE AS AN OBEDIENT CHILD, John 14:15 (NLT): “If you love me, obey my commandments.”
Isaiah 1:19 (NKJV): “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.”
Obedience is proof of trust. It’s The Mark of Sonship. We don’t obey to “Earn” salvation, We obey because we “Have” salvation.
DON’T SLIP BACK TO OLD WAYS, Galatians 5:1 (NKJV): “Stand fast… and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” If God brought you out of something, don’t crawl back into it.
You new life shouldn’t produce old fruit. BAM! I said it!
BE HOLY IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, Hebrews 12:14 (NLT): “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” Holiness isn’t spiritual perfection, it’s spiritual direction. It’s doing things God’s way. Intentional Living not Accidental Blessing .
In Closing:
- Reset Your Mind Daily: Start every day aligning your thoughts with Christ.
- Remove Old Patterns Immediately: Stop negotiating and associating with sin.
- Respond Like Christ Consistently: Let holiness become your default.
- REPENT!
