The Covenant

Prayer for Family, Friends, Community and Church. AUGUST is the eighth month, it’s a month of New Beginnings.

This is a time to do something new, try something new

This is a time to make changes

This is a time to make adjustments

This is the time, this is the hour

Genesis 17:1-8 (NKJV): “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, ‘I am almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.’ Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: ‘As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but you name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting pos-session; and I will be their God.’”

I am El-Shaddai, The All Sufficient One. “Walk before me and be blameless.”

There Are Six Parts to the Covenant: THE PARTIES (People), THE PROMISES (Provisions and Protections), THE TERMS (Obligations and Oaths), THE TIMES (Duration), THE SIGNS (Symbols), THE SEAL (Witness).

Abraham’s Great Reward is Our Great Reward. Galatians 3:26-29 (NLT): “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.”

IT’S A COVENANT OF MULTIPLICATION. God Isn’t An Additive In Your Life; He Is a MULTIPLIER In Your Life. Genesis 17:2 (NKJV): “I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” MULTIPLICATION Is Based Upon Seed Time and Harvest. Genesis 8:22 (NKJV): “While the earth remains, Seed time and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.” Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV): “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

IT’S A COVENANT OF IDENTIFICATION. God Isn’t Interested in Changing Your Circumstances; He Is Interested in Changing Your Future—He Wants to Change Your Life! Genesis 17:5: “What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be a father of many nations.” There is a major difference between believing and experiencing God.

IT’S A COVENANT OF MANIFESTATION. The Level of Your Fruitfulness is Determined By Your Level of Your Faithfulness. Genesis 17:6 (NLT): “I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them!”

In Closing, Genesis 16:15: “So Hagar gave Abram a son, and Abram named him Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Ishmael was born.” There were 13 years between the end of Genesis 16 and Genesis 17. The Lord appeared when Abram was 99. It was a time of “The Flesh.”
