What Are You Expecting?
Romans 8:18-19 (NKJV): “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”
Glory = doxa; Splendor, Magnificence, Excellence, Brightness that is tangible or visible
Revelation = Illumination, Manifestation ——> It Means To Uncover
Expectation = Intense Anticipation
Expectations Are Often Formed From What We Can See
Sunrise, Sunsets, Storm Clouds and The Sky. Psalm 19:1 (NIV): “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Romans 1:20 (NIV): “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
Pregnancy – We can tell in the 9th Month; Mothers can tell usually within the 1st month.
Problem: We often don’t see things clearly. or 1 side of things or only what we want to see.
Expectations Are Often Formed From Past Experiences
History Repeats Itself. This is what happened in the past, therefore, this is what is to happen in the future. Logic – reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.
Problem: Experiences should never shape truth. Truth should always shape our experiences.
We should turn tragedies into Theologies, Because it happened to us etc…
Expectations Should Be Based on the Truth of God’s Word.
Psalm 62:5-8 (NKJV): “My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” Philippians 4:8-9 (NKJV): “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
In Closing:
