A Path Called Life

Text:

  • Proverbs 4:20-27 (NKJV) – My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.

  • Psalm 16:11 (NKJV) – You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Trans:

  • Everyone is walking on a path called life. ——> Ponder the Path Because:
  • The path you choose determines the direction you travel, the decisions you make, the people you encounter, and ultimately the destination you reach.
  • Some paths look right but lead to regret. Some paths appear easy but eventually become difficult. Some paths are popular but do not produce life.
  • Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) says: “There is a way that seems right to a man,

But its end is the way of death.” The good news is that God has not left us to wander through life without direction. David declared: “You will show me the path of life.”

  • God has a path for your life—a path filled with purpose, direction, joy, and His presence.
  • The path of life is not merely about where you are going. It is about who you are following.

Body:

  1. The Path of Life Comes From Revelation
    1. Psalm 16:11 (NKJV) – “You will show me the path of life.”
    2. David understood that the right path is not discovered just through intelligence.
    3. The right path It must be revealed by God.
    4. We do not naturally know which direction to take.
    5. Our emotions can mislead us. Our circumstances can confuse us. People distract us.
    6. Psalm 25:4–5 (NKJV) – “Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me.”
    7. David didn’t say: Watch Me, Look at Me, Follow Me -> Show Me, Teach Me, Lead Me
  1. The Path of Life Comes With Illumination
    1. God does not always illuminate the entire path, He gives just enough light for the next step.
    2. Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) – “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
    3. Abraham, Joseph, Moses & David —> They all learned this & so will we
    4. The steps of the righteous man are ordered by the Lord  — This requires trust
  1. The Path of Life Requires Trust
    1. Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV) – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
    2. God directs the paths of those who trust Him.
    3. Trust means following God even when you do not understand what He is doing.
  1. The Path of Life is in God’s Presence
    1. Psalm 16:11 (NKJV) – “In Your presence is fullness of joy.”
    1. David did not say joy was found in possessions, position, popularity, or achievement.
    2. He said fullness of joy is found in the presence of God.
    3. The Path of Life Always Leads Us To His Presence
  1. The Path of Life Shines Brighter
    1. Proverbs 4:18 (NKJV) “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”
    1. The path of the righteous becomes brighter.
    2. This means your best days are not necessarily behind you.
    3. We go from glory to glory & strength to strength – No mores ups & downs

Closing:

  • Proverbs 4:26–27 (NKJV) – “Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.”
  • Life is determined by our direction & Our direction is determined by our choices
