Battles, Barriers & Breakthroughs

Psalm 37:23-28 (NLT): “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand. Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing. Turn from evil and do good, and you will live in the land forever. For the LORD loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly.”

Many of the Psalms are written by King David. David learned so much in life and is passing on experiential knowledge. He said “I was young and now I am old, yet  I have never seen the righteous forsaken.” In Life, we will all face what every psalmist faced: Battles, Barriers and Breakthroughs. John 16:33 (NLT): “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” In this world we will all have battles & barriers, but be at peace for we shall overcome.

DON’T LET the BATTLES YOU FACE, RATTLE YOUR FAITH. 2 Samuel 7:8-9 (NLT): Now go and say to my servant David, ‘This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has declared: “I took you from tending sheep in the pasture and selected you to be the leader of my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before your eyes.”  You see David’s biggest enemy wasn’t the lion, the bear, Goliath, King Saul, or even his son!

David’s Biggest Enemy Was DAVID!

Anytime David found himself lamenting or pleading with God, it wasn’t because of what God didn’t do—it was because of what David did!

4 Internal Battles You Must Overcome

FEAR. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT): “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

Don’t let the voice of uncertainty drown out the voice of possibility.

UNBELIEF. I was sure that God “Could,” just not sure that God “Would.” Unbelief isn’t uncommon for the Child of God. Israel Suffered From Unbelief. Psalm 78:19-20 (NLT): “They even spoke against God himself, saying, ‘God can’t give us food in the wilderness. Yes, he can strike a rock so water gushes out, but he can’t give his people bread and meat.’”

IMPATIENCE. Impatience is very destructive to the believer. It cost King Saul everything; he was unwilling to wait for the prophet who gave him specific orders on sacrifice. I have learned to wait upon the Lord. Isaiah 40:31 (NASB): “Yet those who wait for the LORD, will gain new strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” Proverbs 16:32 (NLT): “Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.”

PRIDE. Proverbs 162:18 (NLT): Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.”  Pride comes before a fall. The quickest way down is thinking you’re over-the-top. Pride doesn’t listen to anybody. Proverbs 13:10 (NLT): “Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.”

DON’T LET the BARRIERS in PLACE RUIN YOUR PACE. The enemy will always set traps to ensnare you.

3 Barriers You Must Break Through. 1 John 2:16 (NKJV): “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.” THE FLESH, THE GOLD (Mammon), THE GLORY (Pride).

Your Greatest Breakthrough Can Be Right Now!

Your Biggest Blessing Is On the Other Side of Your Biggest Enemy!

WE are the biggest enemy to our lives.

WE determine the outcome of our input.

WE decide to whom the battles belong.

WE decide whether we are overcomers or undertakers.
