Speak To Me Lord

Numbers 7:89 (NLT): “Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the LORD, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover—the place of atone-ment—that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The LORD spoke to him from there.”

God Speaks To Us Only From A Place of Atonement. “Atonement” = AT ONE MENT, Reparations For An Offense (SIN). “Reparations” = The Act of Making Amends. It Requires A Sacrifice—I would suggest upon both parties.

The Construction of the Ark: It was made of acacia wood, which is Practical (Exodus 25:10). It was covered in gold, Protected. It was sealed with pure gold, Purified. There were two Cherubim over the seal, a Portal. The wings spread over the ark—ready to carry out the Will of God. The Cherubim were facing each other—watching over His Will—->His Word. Jeremiah 1:11-12 (NASB1995): The word of the Lord came to me saying, ‘What do you see, Jeremiah?’ And I said, ‘I see a rod of an almond tree.’ Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.’”  That Seal is called the Mercy Seat; we will get back to that in a minute.

The Contents of the Ark: The golden pot of Manna which represents Man’s Rejection of God’s Provi-sion. The Rod of Aaron which represents man’s Rejection of God’s Authority and Lordship. The two stone tablets which represent man’s Rejection of God’s Standard of Holy.

The Place of Atonement. In the Old Testament that place is directly between the two cherubim above the ark’s cover. The “Ark’s Cover” is known as the “Mercy Seat.” The High Priest sprinkled the blood on the Seat. It’s the place where mercy meets truth.

Psalm 85:8-13 (NKJV):

“I will hear what God the Lord will speak,
For He will speak peace
To His people and to His saints;
But let them not turn back to [
a] folly.
9 Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him,
That glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good;
And our land will yield its increase.

13 Righteousness will go before Him,
And shall make His footsteps our pathway.”
