In View of God’s Mercy

Romans 12:1 (NIV): “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your  bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Most people live their lives as thought God is not watching and if He is, He doesn’t care! What they  are saying is, “He is not real,” “I am not afraid,” or “I don’t care.” In Essence they do not have what the  Bible calls “The Fear of the Lord.”

Proverbs 9:10-11 (NKJV): “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the  Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to  you.” Most people fear everything But the Lord, they are afraid of the wrong things, and they live  their life before and for things that really don’t matter or help.

Isaiah 41:10 (NLT): “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”  Joshua 1:9 (NLT): “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged.  For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Hebrews 4:16 (NLT): “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

James 4:7-10 (NLT): “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts,  for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.”

The Fear of the Lord = To be in reverent awe of His holiness, to give Him complete reverence and to  honor Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power, To Have An Undivided Heart Toward  God. Read about Cain and Abel in Genesis 4.

Psalm 112:1 (RSV): “Praise the Lord! How blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who greatly  delights in His commandments.” Psalm 128:1 (NASB1995): “How blessed is everyone who fears the  Lord, Who walks in His ways.”

Mercy For Mistakes: “God’s mercy is reserved for ‘those who fear him from generation to generation.” Luke 1:50

Long Full Life: “The fear of the LORD prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.”  Proverbs 10:27. “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.” Proverbs 14:27.
